a country made out of few countries is now again about to have a few countries within. remember when we were about to get independence back in 1940′s. most of the people from west and few indian scholars too had a doubt in their minds that india would disintegrate post independence; it didn’t happen then but maybe it’s happening now.
i am a devoted indian, at-least this is how i see myself or would like to be known; similar to the fact the i would like to be pronounced a devoted hindu. though deep down inside, i am more. i am a human and beneath that i am an animal.
to the human deep down in me, it doesn’t matter if i am a follower of sanatan dharm or i have faith in christianity or islam or if i am a sikh, jain, parsi, jew or anything for that matter. he doesn’t even care if i am an indian or american or chinese or of any other nationality. all he cares about that if i am true to my soul or not.
for him, the god is just a means to explain and credit a few things which he can’t explain or understand. and nationality is a means to setup a system in place for his identity into an entity. his basics would be the same, be him of any religion or nationality; always the same.
and the animal deep down inside me, it’s just amazing. a psycho, a hungry lion which is greedy and blunt and merciless. it just wants to indulge in eating, sleep and sex; in short to feed himself in every possible manner to fulfill basic and extensive needs.
though we were not indian since beginning. actually, we weren’t a country before british came to our land and ruled us, they named us a country as they had to manage it. they were the first who saw india as one. they were the people who integrated; marathas, tamils, kannads, telugus, gujratis, biharis, bangalis, punjabis etc.
before british came here, we were a land of hundreds of countries or say riyasats or pradesh. you might not agree with me at first; but take a moment and think this; what is a country? there are quite a few definitions on the internet in different dictionaries, you can google it.
from my point of view, a country is a set of people, a piece of land, a set of rules, a system to run and integrate things; like a big joint family :- a family head, family members, a core of people to decide it’s rules, traditions and regulation, a piece of land to live on. the list of similarities just goes on.
now for a moment tell me, before 15th august a947 when were we a single country? we never were, since the very beginning as per the hindu stories, ram rajya was not across the india. there were different states. there were no central government of ruling body. it’s similar in all yugas; sat-yug, treta-yug, dwaper-yug and kali-yug (until year 1947).
same fact could be established from other religions too, if you want to. be in islam, jain, bauddh, christian. even in or after 1947 we weren’t a country as we see it today, goa was under control of pourtgese till 60′s, kashmir came under our territory only after the war of 1948.,which resulted in pok (pakistan occupied kashmir) as well.
even the nizam of hyderabad didn’t accept the idea of a central government. you can always search wiki and google to verify the claims i made about indian integrity. though you have to be very careful when you read history. afterall, history is always written or influenced by the men who won the war.
so finally, india as we know it today is not more than a century old. i think i will story of india’s creations deserves an all together separate article. i have few thoughts over it penned down. may be, i will complete it soon and will publish it. as of now let’s take a look on current situations.
after almost after 63 years getting freedom from british, the concept of being an indian is still not strong enough. i remember reading in the article rainbow called india , india is a place where people don’t fight over language, religion and differences and live peacefully in harmony. but i wonder if it is true, any-longer
these days, if you move to maharastra, you have to know marathi- otherwise something strange happens, you can always tune into any news channel to know what is that something, it’s not very different if the language is kannada or tamil or begali or asami or you name it man.
few of my friends might not agree with me, mostly those, who come from a posh lifestyle (mostly information technology guys) but take a walk on the road and ask this to the people who have migrated from a different state. i have been doing it for quite some time now.
trust me or not, often men are afraid of revealing there native place or native language as thinking about consequences. i am afraid there will come a day when an indian will have to seek a visa to move to a different state than his native one. that would be a true disaster. i hope and pray it will never come… amen !!
you know that have a lot of people to blame for such situation including me, you, most of my friends and everyone who doesn’t fight for the right thing and compromise waiting for the system to change, thinking that ” bhagat singh to paida ho par padosi ke ghar mai”. but than i don’t play blame-game, it’s not my thing.
of-course the biggest culprit is the government, i know we can bring the change in this tendency and maintain our peace and dignity but it’s the job we have given to the government because after all “hume ghar chalana hota hai sahab”
i think enough for this post. now it’s time to pen-down my thoughts over indian politics. as of now all i could say about this phase (through which we are going through in case of identity crisis). “esto también pasará” don’t you trust me. humm… wait and “nous allons voir à ce sujet” because “i do care about it“.

i am a devoted indian, at-least this is how i see myself or would like to be known; similar to the fact the i would like to be pronounced a devoted —– Sorry to say, but never compare country with anything.Motherland exceeds all Gods.I hope you know Janani, Janmabhoomishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi(Mother and Motherland are greater then heaven as well).
to the human deep down in me, it doesn’t matter if i am a follower of sanatan dharm or i have faith in christianity or islam or if i am a sikh, jain, parsi, jew or anything for that matter. —– I think you have compared Sanatan Dharma to Hinduism, or you have replaced Hinduism by that word. Let me tell you that Religions are beliefs. Your belief might change, but Sanatan Dharma basically preaches Service of mankind. It really doesn’t matter what belief(religion) you have, if you serve selflessly, you follow Sanatan Dharma.
after almost after 63 years getting freedom from british, the concept of being an indian is still not strong enough. i remember reading in the article rainbow called india , india is a place where people don’t fight over language, religion and differences and live peacefully in harmony. but i wonder if it is true, any-longer
—– I’m proud to say that it is still true. People of different religions still live happily with each other. If you look neutrally and not from any political perspective and then compare Indian to any other nation of the world, you won’t take to conclude that Indian unity in diversity is still magnificent and awesome. Yeah, many people have been trying to break us, but I hope you know Kuch baat hai ki hasti mit ti nahi hamari, sadiyon raha hai dushman, daur-e-zamaa hamara.
i like the post..the content and and conviction..i can’t but agree upon whatever is posted here…..i wonder how you take time from your life to mull over the system or country….i appreciate it!!!
just trying to say what i consider right… about time, i have enough. appreciate your visit n comment
keep visiting
First thing I want to appreciate and congratulate you that you not only think but also write.
But there are some points I don’t agree,
though we were not Indian since beginning. actually, we weren’t a country before British came to our land and ruled u
This technically not true long before that During the time of Mughals, the whole India was under the Mughal rule and Delhi was the seat of the Government. As a matter of fact and to prove my point (you might check this) all the states paid taxes to the central government in Delhi, So India as whole existed long before that and most of the states had central currency.
from my point of view, a country is a set of people,—-the list of similarities just goes on.
I don’t agree A country is made out of the most dissimilar things. It is not at all about similarity but about diversity.
The multi cultural, multi-religious, multi ethnic,multi-lingual character makes it a great nation.
walk on the road and ask this to the people who have migrated from a different state.
—-You need to understand that India is going through the “Transition” phase and every nation in the world has to go through this, If you look at the world history and All the today’s well established nations including US had undergone Transition.
I believe we will pass this and would come up stronger than ever.
